2008 SUPER SIX RULES

1. COMPETING MODELS


A. Open to all V6 American made FWD steel bodied passenger cars from 1990 or newer with a minimum wheelbase of 2615 mm or 103 inches. Only cars made by General Motors, Ford and Dodge are eligible, no foreign brands regardless of manufacturer. No convertibles or suv’s. This class is designed to be a pure stock division using all factory computer controls. If you are not clear as to what type of car this is please call the race track or one of the officials. 

B. Bodylines must remain stock as manufactured. All body components must maintain year and model of the base vehicle. VIN number tag must be remain on firewall or windshield base. No body panels below frame rails, stock rocker panels only.


C. No cowl openings or hood scoops, no bolts or other supports to raise hoods at windshield.


D. All glass must be removed except windshield. Windshield may be replaced with Lexan.


E. All headlights, door handles and body trim must be removed. Light openings can be covered with aluminum or tin.


F. Interior of car must be completely stripped with the exception of instrument cluster and computer location.


G. Driver must sit in factory stock location, all pedals must remain stock in the factory location. Floor pan must remain stock front to rear, with all rusted areas repaired using 22-gauge steel.


H. Front firewall must remain stock with all holes covered using 20 gauge steel, rear firewall must be sealed off completely using 20 gauge steel.


I. Battery must remain in stock location. BATTERY SHUTOFF SWITCH MAY BE REQUIRED.


J. Front and rear bumpers must remain in stock location. Bracing is permitted behind the bumper cover, no external bars permitted. No RUB rails permitted.


K. Minimum weights with driver in car and no fuel added after race: 3.1 liter engines and smaller must weigh 3050 lbs. Engines larger than 3.1 liter and less than 3.4 liter maximum must weigh 3150 lbs. all engines 3.4 liters and larger must weigh 3250 lbs. Weights will be adjusted as needed. New weights are in effect 3/08/07.


L. Steering column must remain stock and car must start with key.


M. Windshield must be supported as stated in the street stock rules.



ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

 

A. Stock unaltered V6 engine and transmissions. Engine must match make and model. No turbo’s or superchargers. Maximum number of valves is 2 per cyl. NO 4-cam engines allowed.

B. No antifreeze allowed.

C. Only stock production automatic transmissions for year and model allowed, no standard shift.

 

 

FUEL SYSTEM

 

A. Stock fuel tanks and pumps mounted in factory stock location only. (Fuel cells will be addressed as needed. This may by subject to change at any time.)

INTAKE AND EXHAUST

 

A. Engine must use all factory intake and injectors for make and model with all factory sensors connected. No aftermarket or special order items allowed.

B. Exhaust must be factory stock manifolds with ONE outlet. One muffler or catalytic converter is required. Exhaust must be routed to the outside of vehicle behind the driver. No dual exhaust.

IGNITION

 

A. Factory stock ignition only, no aftermarket computers or chips.

ROLL CAGE AND SAFETY

 

A. Minimum roll cage mounting will be 8 mounting points with mandatory 4 horizontal door bars and 3 vertical bars. Main cage supports must be attached to the floor with a 4 inch x 4 inch plate that is ¼ inch thick. The plate must be bolted and welded to the factory frame or floor. Each cage will be checked for a safe installation, full cages are recommended. Use the Street Stock section for the dimensions of tubing and for installation help.

B. Aluminum racing seats are mandatory and will be mounted as outlined in the Street Stock Rules.

C. Quick release, five - point seat belts designed for racing mandatory. All belts must conform to the Street Stock mounting specifications. All belts must have an identification tag. Age of safety belts to be determined at a later date.

D. Padding will be required on all bars that can come in contact with driver. Steering wheel hub must be padded.

E. Full coverage driver racing suit with an approved Snell rated or SFI rated 3.2a helmet will be required. Check the general safety rules for specifics.

F. Head and neck restraints may be required; this information will be released in the near future.

G. Window net is required on drivers side, must be one inch web with a quick – release mandatory.

 

 

SUSPENSION AND BRAKES

 

A. No heavy duty or limited suspension parts allowed. No adjustable shocks or spring adjusters.

B. Springs and shocks must be stock for make and model of car, no cutting of springs, no aftermarket springs. No slotting of holes or altering of shock towers or struts allowed to gain camber correction. Maximum gain will be what the factory gives for factory adjustments. Brake rotors must be factory stock with stock pads, no heavy duty or limited production items. No brake bias adjustments.

C. Front end camber settings, the maximum on the right front is 3* positive and the maximum on the left front is 1* negative . These settings are effective immediately, ( 06/24/07 ) .



TIRES AND WHEELS

 

A. Tires size will be the standard size for make and model with a minimum tread wear of 300. No over size tires. Only 15-inch diameter size tires will be allowed. If your car came with 16-inch wheels like the Pontiac Gran Prix, then you will have to use wheels off a Chevy Lumina to get the 15 inch dimension. Tread width will be limited to 205 by 65 or 70 series tires only.

B. Wheels must be steel only. All four wheels must be the same offsets. No spacers or adapters.

No aluminum wheels will be permitted.

PURSE AND RACE FORMAT

 

A. I am told that the payoff for this division will be similar to the Street Stock payoff. All positions will be paid. This class may start out as a feature only division. This will be dealt with on a week to week basis. Also a time limit may be imposed to complete the race. Driver’s competing in this division will not be eligible to race in any other division. This division is designed for the racer who has a small budget and wants to compete in a weekly race series.
