LIFE IS A DRAG - By Dave Mance

Well, the season is coming to an end. There are only two more races left and it is still a close race in points for all the drag racing classes. Everybody is looking for that final trophy and end of the season pay-out at the banquet.

Saturday, September 1st, was the deciding night on who would represent the track in the “race of champions” at the bracket finals and it certainly was an exciting evening. When all was said and done, Paul Kelsch will be in Super Pro, Matt Himes in Pro, and Sam Capizzi Jr. in Street. These are three good racers that will represent our track very well in the “race of champions”. Good luck to them all and now let’s get to the results of Saturday’s race…

Super Pro - 1st place – Sam Capizzi Sr., Rochester

2nd place – Timmy Newland, Rochester

3rd place – Eric Beckens, Sodus

4th place – Westley Cayea, Williamson

Modified - 1st place – Matt Himes, Ontario

2nd place – Alan Webber, Wolcott

3rd place – Richie Liberi, Marion

4th place – Steve Michalke, Newark

Street - 1st place – Dan Frank, Marion

2nd place – Joe Graham, Marion

3rd place – T.J. Parks, Ontario

4th place – Gary French, Seneca Falls

Gamblers – 1st place – Mark Tallmadge, Williamson

2nd place – Scott Beasaw Sr., Ontario

All of our first place winners not only received their pay-out but also took home a “Wally” trophy to put on their shelves.

The “Good Luck” driver award for this week goes to Mark Tallmadge for his strategy in the Gamblers race in the final four rounds to get him the win and the “Wally”. The “Bad Luck” driver award, I’m afraid, goes to Dave Stock AGAIN! This is the third week in a row that his car broke which made him lose valuable points and just miss out of being in the “race of champions” at the bracket finals. I hope his bad luck doesn’t follow him to the bracket finals because he is a good driver and may go far in winning the overall race.

Just a reminder; by the time you see this, there will only be one race left so hope you show up for the final night. Have a good week. Keep it between the lines!
