LIFE IS A DRAG - By Dave Mance
What started off looking like it
was going to be a great night turned south half way through the
night. For some unknown reason, the “gremlins” decided to make
their appearance. We had a couple of cars make a mess on the line
and the tree wanted to keep the top yellow light on before the
tree was even activated. After working on the tree for ½ hour to
45 minutes, everything went well for the rest of the evening, but
put us way behind on time. After such a stressful night, here are
the results from the July 7th race:
Super Pro - 1st place – Sam
Capizzi Jr., Rochester
2nd place – Joe Fiano, Webster
3rd place – Tom Frank, Webster
4th place – Dave Burnham, Lyons
Modified - 1st place – Matt
Himes, Ontario (stay off the roofs!)
2nd place – Scott Beasaw Sr.,
Ontario
3rd place – Ed McGuinn,
Rochester
4th place – Sam Capizzi Sr.,
Rochester
Street - 1st place – Dan
Forrest, Ontario
2nd place – Sam Capizzi Jr.,
Rochester
3rd place – Rich Garland, West
Walworth
4th place – Chris Fontana,
Rochester
Due to time restraints, we were
unable to run a gambler’s race that night.
We had a couple of “bad luck”
drivers this past Saturday. The first “bad luck” award goes to
Tom Presley whose transmission broke while taking it off the
trailer. The second goes to Sam Capizzi Sr., who blew his engine
during time trials, thus having to drive an alternate car for
eliminations. The “good luck” driver award goes to our Street
class winner, Dan Forrest, who bought back in after he lost first
round.
Please mark your calendars for
July 21st to be double points for the modified class and also July
28th for a double point’s race for the street class. We are
working on rescheduling the “box/no-box shoot-out” which was
rained out on July 4th. I will let you know in a future article on
which day that will be held on. We DO know that it will be on a
Saturday night. Thanks again to the crew at the track for all
their help on “gremlin night.” See you at the races!
