LIFE IS A DRAG - By Dave Mance
The past few weeks
the heat has been brutal when trying to obtain traction on the
starting line. However, this past Saturday with temperatures in
the 70’s, with a bit of grooming with the drag and a different
spray technique of the “strip-grip”, we were able to obtain a
more suitable mix to get more traction out of the starting line.
The night did go smoothly with the exception of a few street cars
dumping radiator fluid on the starting line, but with the great
crew we have we managed to get the line back in tip-top shape.
With no further ado, here are the results from the race on

Don’t forget to
come and participate on July 4th for our box/no-box shoot-out! You
can catch a picture of the HUGE trophy on the Spencer Speedway
website along with the flyer with pay-outs and gate opening times.
The website is www.Spencerspeedway.org or go to NHRA.com and click
on “northeast division” and then click on “track
participants” and scroll down to Spencer Speedway’s track
information.
Now for my good
luck/bad luck driver awards of last week…the “Bad Luck”
award would have to go to Al Tiberio in his 1967 Chevelle. He
forgot to put the front hood pins in and the hood flipped up
during his run and hit his windshield and shattered it. Needless
to say, it also wrecked the hood! The “Good Luck” award has to
be shared between two drivers this week, Rich Liberi in the
modified class and Bob Mohr in the Super Pro class. Both men made
it to the finals and both of their opponents broke so they had “free
rides” for the win.
I hope someone
will be keeping track of the good luck/bad luck recipients on June
30th for me as I will be attending my nephews wedding on that day
and will not be able to work that evening. Congratulations Dillon
& Erica!!!! I hope to see a lot of cars and spectator’s on
the 4th of July. P.S. Thanks for reading my articles Diane...hope
to see you at the track soon.
