LIFE
IS A DRAG by

Saturday seemed to
be the day of the week for nice weather. With five Saturday’s
under our belt we are now going for six in a row. The only thing
bad about Saturday, June 2nd, was that it was hotter than Hell!
The Town of Walworth was assembling new playground equipment and
seeing that my lovely wife, Suzi, is on the Town Board, she
volunteered me to help, so at 8 A.M. Saturday morning we were out
in that nice hot sun (with no shade) assembling a new playground.
Woo-hoo!! By 11:30
A.M. everybody was fried, thirsty and hungry, so after some lunch
I packed it up and headed for the race track. Then I proceeded to
set up the whole track in the hot afternoon sun (with no shade) on
BLACKTOP. Let’s talk about getting enough sun for the day!!!!
This was one day I was really in anticipation of the sun setting.
Then, to top it off, Bob Mohr, came up to the line before we even
started racing and aimed his temperature gun at the starting line
(that’s where I stand) and it registered a whopping 118 degrees!
Woo-hoo!! With the line being so hot it really made it tricky for
the driver’s to get good traction. Once the sun went down, the
line came around and the cars started hooking, but by that time we
had already gone a round or two of eliminations which didn’t
help the drivers that had lost.
Anyway, here are
the results from Saturday, June 2nd:

This week I would
like to add something to my article and will try to include it
every week. It’s a “hard-luck driver” and a “lucky driver”
of the week. I have to give this week’s “hard-luck driver”
award to Ian “Makin” Bacon. He’s been having some problems
with his car since opening day and Saturday night he was on a good
roll and made it to the final three cars. When he came up for his
burn-out in the semi’s, a $2.00 relay switch for his fuel pump
took a dump so he ended up third instead of in the finals. The “lucky
driver” award this week has to go to Mike Galle. He lost in an
early round against Joe Fiano Jr., but Joe neglected to turn his
taillights on and was disqualified. Hence, Mike was put back into
eliminations and ended up taking second place in the Modified
class.
Enjoy the week and
hope to see you at the races!
