Double Header Weekend by Gary M. Spaid
Late arriving rains forced race
officials to cancel racing on the second day, Saturday, July 27,
of a planned two day weekend of NASCAR oval track racing at
Spencer Speedway. The race cars had been practicing and the
teams were waiting for the drivers’ meeting to end when weather
moved in from the south. Racing was canceled and fans exited the
speedway. The steady drizzle later turned into a major rain
storm, which would have certainly ended the night of racing, but
on a much wetter note.
Fans can use their rain checks this Friday, August 2. Not only will they
be admitted free with their rain stub, but also receive money
back at that time. Scheduled that evening is a Big 10 Super
Stock 50-lapper. The Sunoco Modifieds will be running a double
point 35-lap main event. Joining the action will be the popular
Super Sixes, Auto Value Scorpion 4 cylinders and the INEX
Legends. Race time is set for 7:30 p.m. sharp.
Spencer Speedway is located just fifteen minutes east of Rochester , NY ,
along Route 104 in the Town of Williamson. Spencer Speedway is
the local “ NASCAR Place to Race” for Central New York in 2013.
Points earned each week at Spencer are counted into the national
NASCAR Whelen All-American Points.
