Again ! ! by Gary M. Spaid
The guy who said, ”When it rains, it
pours,” was not kidding. This summer so far has not been kind to
auto racing and especially Spencer Speedway. Friday, June 28,
marked the fourth rain out at the speedway this year.
“I think you have to go back to 2003, to see a rainier summer,” commented
one track regular. One good thing is the meteorologists are
predicting a shift in the jet stream starting near the beginning
of July. This shift should make for warmer, drier days ahead.
This coming Friday, July 5, the Sunoco Modified will be running twin 20
lap features in honor of Independence Day. The Super Stocks and
Four Cylinder Scorpions are also on the schedule. The Super
Sixes and Legend Cars will have the night off to make room in
the schedule for the TQ Midgets and Midstate Vintage Stock Cars.
Race time starts at 7:30 p.m. sharp.
Adjustments to this plan may be in the making. Fans are encouraged to
look at the Spencer Speedway website, www.spencerspeedway.org,
for any updates.
Spencer Speedway is located just fifteen minutes east of Rochester, NY,
along Route 104 in the Town of Williamson. Spencer Speedway is
the local “ NASCAR Place to Race” for Central New York in 2013.
Points earned each week at Spencer are counted into the national
NASCAR Whelen All-American Points.
