MODIFIED LITES ADDED WEEKLY AT SPENCER AND
CHEMUNG
WILLIAMSON, NY…Late last year officials at Spencer
Speedway announced some changes in their weekly shows in
2008. The modifieds would be running a “specials only”
format of four to eight times, with a 100-lap NASCAR
Whelen Modified Tour race on Saturday, July 12 and an
extra distance RoC qualifier sometime in August. The main
weekly class on Friday’s would be the SST Modifieds.
Adding to the weekly program were the full fender, Street
Stocks and Super Six, divisions. It was also revealed that
a new class was being added weekly, the Modified Lite
division. At that time no information about that class was
available. This Modified Lite class features open wheel
“modified style” cars powered by the 602 Crate
Engine.
These engines must be purchased from Stapleton Engines
607-734-1987. They will all be complete with 650 carb,
distributor, wires and plugs. They will all have a dyno
sheet and will have been run on the same dyno as to make
sure that all the engines are equal. The shop will have a
copy and a file on all the engines. The track will have
the right to take any engine and inspect it and dyno it to
keep things fair for all. Hoosier 1080 Tires will make
contact with the track. These tires sell for just $100
each. All cars must run a quick change rear-end and be
equipped with a 5,700 rpm chip. Sweet steering is
permitted. The only size muffler will be the 3" Lobac.
Tigor switches are required. “We want to offer a new low
cost entry level alternative to our other forms of open
wheel modified racing at both Spencer and Chemung,”
announced track promoter John White. “The rules for the
Modified Lite division should appear very soon on both
track websites.”
For individuals without a computer Mr. White can be
reached by calling 631-745-9805 for more information about
these rules. For more information concerning the Modified
Lite division at Spencer Speedway go to their website at
