SPENCER SPEEDWAY TO OPEN THIS FRIDAY FOR
THE ANNUAL TUNE AND TEST EVENT
WILLIAMSON,
NY…Rochester, NY area auto racing enthusiasts take note
that Spencer Speedway will be open this Friday, May 4 for
the annual season opening test event. The pit gates are
scheduled to open at 3:30 p.m. with practice on the track
running till dusk. Drivers and crews will be able to
purchase their NASCAR licenses at the main ticket booth
just behind the grandstands.
“This
will be a thrilling season to look forward to,” stated
track owner John White. “We are expecting bigger fields
of cars each and every Friday. I want the race fans to
note the new starting time each Friday will be at 7 p.m.,
a half hour earlier then years past.”
The 2007
season will mark White’s first full season at the helm
of this historic track. The track will be celebrating it’s
53rd year of motor sports competition in 2007. The track
opened in 1955 and has run each year since that time.
Featured
weekly will be the NASCAR Modifieds, SST Modifieds, Street
Stocks, Super Sixes, and special appearances of the Legend
Cars, USAC Ford Focus Midgets, Four-Cylinder Supers and
NORA Limited Supers.
Drivers
will be vying for points in the new NASCAR Whelen
All-American Series, which replaces the old Dodge Weekly
Racing Series. At stake in 2007 will be New York State
honors, along with national titles.
The Whelan
oval track season opener is scheduled to begin on Friday,
May 11 and will feature the NASCAR Modifieds, SST
Modifieds, Street Stocks and Super Six cars. Race time
will start at 7 p.m. sharp.
Spencer
Speedway is a flat half mile asphalt oval, located just
east of Rochester, NY, along Route 104 in the Town of
Williamson. Spencer Speedway is the local “NASCAR Nation”
for upstate New York.
